McAfee Glitches cause PC Turmoil; Computers at risk for Blue Screen of Death

McAfee users everywhere felt the consequences of downloading of a faulty signature update via VirusScan. After downloading this file, McAfee began to quarantine many critical system files, resulting in the Blue Screen of Death.

This is not the first time this has happened to McAfee—back in 2006, an update also sent PC users into a state of confusion after it also classified critical system files as malware and subsequently quarantined them.

Tugboat Enterprises, a data recovery software company, is dealing with incidents such as this one that are becoming more and more common. It’s either faulty drivers, or downloaded software that does it, but eventually everyone will get the dreaded Blue Screen of Death.

Since a product like McAfee is supposed to help defend against getting the Blue Screen, but instead it is actively involved in it. It just goes to show how everyone needs to have data recovery software on hand or the downtime can cost an enormous amount.

Tugboat Enterprises is fast becoming the preferred choice for do-it-yourself data recovery. Tugboat recently earned a spot on CRN’s Emerging Technology list for the second year in the row.
